And is described as \u201cA methodology for retrieving textual data objects.\u201d In other words: using related words and phrases (\u201cLSI keywords\u201d) to better categorize a page&#039;s topic.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u00bb4.8.0\u2033 _module_preset=\u00bbdefault\u00bb custom_margin=\u00bb||13px||false|false\u00bb]<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Does Google Use LSI in Their Algorithm?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&quot;4.8.0&quot; _module_preset=&quot;default&quot;]<\/p>\n<p>Probably not.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, a Google representative <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnMu\/status\/1156293862681468929\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stated in 2019<\/a>: \u201cThere&#039;s no such thing as LSI keywords \u2013 anyone who&#039;s telling you otherwise is mistaken, sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=\u00bbhttps:\/\/dits.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/twitter-john-mu-lsi-keywords-640\u00d7345-1.jpg\u00bb title_text=\u00bbtwitter-john-mu- lsi-keywords-640\u00d7345\u2033 show_in_lightbox=\u201don\u201d align=\u201dcenter\u201d _builder_version=\u201d4.8.0\u2033 _module_preset=\u201ddefault\u201d][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u201d4.8.0\u2033 _module_preset=\u201ddefault\u201d]<\/p>\n<p>Instead, Google likely uses a more advanced approach to understanding the relevance on a page: one that takes into account much more than seeing if a page has a specific set of related words. Instead, they analyze your page as a whole to determine its overall topic.<\/p>\n<p>Although technically not \u201cLSI Keywords\u201d, many people in SEO still refer to adding related words and phrases to a page as \u201cadding LSI keywords\u201d (even though the term is technically inaccurate).<\/p>\n<p>And it&#039;s likely that Google does pay close attention to the non-keyword terms on your page. And use that to evaluate (and rank your page).<\/p>\n<p>This means it&#039;s helpful for SEO to add related terms to the page you want to rank.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text figure out a page&#039;s topic-based 100% on the keywords they found on the page.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image so important back in the day.<\/p>\n<p>If you didn&#039;t use your keyword a bunch of times, Google wouldn&#039;t understand that your page was about that term.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to today, and Google is MUCH smarter.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Google&#039;s goal is to figure out a<strong> page&#039;s overall topic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image let&#039;s say you just published a blog post about cold brew coffee.<\/p>\n<p>Google will still scan your page to see if you use the term \u201ccold brew coffee\u201d in your title tag, content, <a href=\"https:\/\/moz.com\/learn\/seo\/alt-text\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">alt text,<\/a> etc.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image \u201ctemperature\u201d, \u201cgrind\u201d, \u201ccold water\u201d, and \u201cice\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image NOT synonyms.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, they&#039;re terms that are closely tied to your target keyword.<\/p>\n<p>For example, take a word like: &quot;jogging&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>Well, \u201crunning\u201d is just a synonym of \u201cjogging\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>now:<\/p>\n<p>There&#039;s nothing wrong with using that synonym in your article (in fact, it can help with your on-page SEO).<\/p>\n<p>But it&#039;s not a semantically related term.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, related terms for \u201cjogging\u201d are things like: \u201cshoes\u201d, \u201ccardio\u201d and \u201c5k\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>With that, here&#039;s how to find these semantically related keywords.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&quot;4.8.0&quot; _module_preset=&quot;default&quot; custom_margin=\u00bb||||false|false\u00bb]<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Google Autocomplete<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/websearch\/answer\/106230?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&amp;hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Google Autocomplete<\/a> is one of the fastest and easiest ways to uncover related terms to sprinkle into your content.<\/p>\n<p>For example, I published \u201cThe Ultimate SEO Site Audit\u201d post.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image _builder_version=\u201d4.8.0\u2033 _module_preset =&quot;default&quot;]<\/p>\n<p>These words bold are related keywords.<\/p>\n<p>After all, they&#039;re terms that human users search for when they tools if I want to optimize my content to the max.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>LSIGraph<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Speaking of tools, there&#039;s a tools that specifically generate related keyword ideas: <a href=\"https:\/\/lsigraph.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LSIGraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=\u00bbhttps:\/\/dits.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/lsigraph-640\u00d7648-1.jpg\u00bb title_text=\u00bblsigraph-640\u00d7648\u2033 show_in_lightbox=\u00bbon\u00bb align=\u00bb center\u00bb _module_preset=\u00bbdefault\u00bb]<\/p>\n<p>Just type in a keyword that you want to rank for\u2026<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image _module_preset=\u00bbdefault\u00bb]<\/p>\n<p>\u2026and get a list of related terms that you can include in your content.<\/p>\n<p>They&#039;re both free SEO tools. So you can&#039;t go wrong with trying out both of them.<\/p>\n<p>(Although I should point out that LSIGraph does have a paid plan\u2026 so it&#039;s technically \u201cFreemium\u201d.)<\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u201cRelated Searches\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cRelated Searches\u201d is similar to Google Autocomplete.<\/p>\n<p>But instead of Google suggesting keywords as you search, they give you related terms at the bottom of the search results.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image _module_preset=\u201ddefault\u201d ]<\/p>\n<p>As it turns out, the Google Keyword Planner is also helpful for finding terms that are related to your target keyword.<\/p>\n<p>For example, if you put
